If your ENJOMOR GS-L6 28cc engine tries to start but doesn't catch, or you can see the distributor arcing inside and sending sparks to the wrong cylinders, please read this Stirlingkit guide carefully. We've put together the checks below to help you find the cause step by step and get your GS-L6 running smoothly.
Why does the distributor arc to the wrong cylinder? The distributor sends high-voltage spark to each cylinder in turn. When the spark jumps to a neighboring terminal inside the distributor cap instead of the one it's meant for, it's called arcing or crossfire, and a cylinder fires at the wrong moment. A miniature distributor runs on much the same voltage as a full-size one, but its terminals sit much closer together, so it's more sensitive to timing, plug gap and cleanliness.
Is a new GS-L6 distributor stiff to turn?
Yes, a new GS-L6 distributor that feels stiff to turn is normal. The parts are machined to tight tolerances and will loosen up after a short run-in period. Stiffness alone won't cause the distributor to arc.
Step-by-step GS-L6 distributor arcing troubleshooting
We recommend working through these steps in order. They start with the quickest checks and move on to the more involved ones.
Check the spark plug wire order on your GS-L6
Compare each plug wire against the firing order in your GS-L6 instruction manual. Two swapped wires can look and sound exactly like crossfire, and it's the easiest thing to rule out.
- Make sure every wire is pushed fully onto its terminal at both ends.
- Route the wires so they aren't bundled tightly together or touching bare metal.
Check the GS-L6 ignition power and CDI module
The GS-L6 uses CDI + distributor ignition, powered separately from the starter motor.
- The ignition runs on 10–12V (3S LiPo recommended). Make sure this battery is fully charged, since a low battery gives a weak spark that may not fire the cylinders reliably.
- Don't mix up the two batteries: the 24V (6S LiPo) supply is for the brushless starter only.
- The CDI module isn't included with the engine, so please confirm the one you're using matches the specification in the GS-L6 manual and that its wiring and ground connection are secure.
Check the timing belt and ignition advance angle
If the ignition timing is off, the rotor inside the distributor may be sitting between two terminals when the spark fires. The spark then jumps to whichever terminal is closest, which is one of the most common causes of crossfire.
First, confirm the timing belt is aligned to the marks shown in the manual. Then fine-tune the ignition advance angle as shown in this video:
- Rotate clockwise to increase the ignition advance angle.
- Rotate counterclockwise to reduce the ignition advance angle.
- The adjustment range is about 5 degrees, so make small changes and test after each one.
Why check the belt first?
The advance adjustment only covers about 5 degrees. If the timing belt is off by even one tooth, the timing error is larger than this adjustment can correct. Getting the belt right first means the fine-tuning can actually do its job.
Reduce the spark plug gap
Set the gap on all six plugs to the lower end of the range given in your GS-L6 manual.
How does the plug gap affect crossfire?
A wider gap needs a higher voltage to fire. When the voltage climbs, the spark is more likely to look for an easier path, such as a neighboring terminal inside the distributor cap. A smaller gap lowers the voltage needed, so the spark goes where it should.
While the plugs are out, check them for carbon buildup. Clean or replace any that look heavily fouled. Replacement plugs need a 1/4-32 thread.
Clean the distributor cap and rotor
Moisture, oil or fine carbon dust inside the cap can create a faint conductive track that leads the spark to the wrong terminal.
- Remove the distributor cap and wipe the inside and the rotor with isopropyl alcohol.
- Look closely for thin dark lines between terminals (carbon tracks) or any hairline cracks.
- Let everything dry completely before refitting.
- Optional: apply a very thin layer of dielectric grease on the cap's inner surface between terminals to help insulate them. Keep it off the contact faces themselves.

If your GS-L6 still won't run after these steps, we're happy to help you further. Please film the distributor area while cranking the engine, ideally in low light so any stray sparks are easy to see, and send it to service@stirlingkit.com along with your order number. Our team will review it together with the manufacturer and work out the next step with you.
