2026 NEW PRODUCT PREVIEW

Stirlingkit 2026 New Product Preview: From Classic Engines to New Mechanical Models

Working miniature engines, classic mechanical designs, steam power, turbines, racing engineering and more — here's an early look at what we're working on next.

At Stirlingkit, what makes a mechanical model fascinating isn't only how it looks when it's finished.

We're equally interested in the story behind the machine: Why was it designed this way? How is power produced? And how do the different mechanisms work together?

Those questions have played an important role in shaping our upcoming 2026 lineup.

We're preparing a new collection of working miniature internal combustion engines, steam-powered models, classic mechanical models, racing-inspired builds, and creative mechanical projects.

Some draw inspiration from historic engines and classic machinery. Rather than simply shrinking an old machine, our goal is to preserve its recognizable mechanical character while adapting selected structures and details for miniature-scale operation, assembly, and display.

Please note: This is an early preview of upcoming Stirlingkit products. Some models are still under development, testing, or production preparation. Final product names, specifications, configurations, colors, structural details, and release plans may change before official launch.
Stirlingkit Lamp Post Steam Engine Display Christmas Edition
NEW PRODUCT 01

Lamp Post Steam Engine Display – Christmas Edition

Our first upcoming product represents a new way of thinking about how a desktop steam engine can be displayed.

Most small steam engines are presented as standalone machines. This time, we wanted to place steam-powered mechanics inside a setting with more atmosphere and storytelling.

A brass boiler, flywheel, steam pipes, mechanical linkages, vintage lamp post, and bench come together to create a miniature scene inspired by the classic industrial age.

Once the model begins to run, the flywheel, linkages, and steam mechanisms don't sit apart from the scene — they become part of it.

By combining steam mechanics, miniature scenery, and kinetic display, this project offers something different for enthusiasts of classic steam engines, vintage industrial design, mechanical dioramas, and steampunk-inspired aesthetics.

Stirlingkit L2 Methanol Engine
NEW PRODUCT 02

L2 Methanol Engine

A BEGINNER-FRIENDLY WAY INTO WORKING MINIATURE ENGINES

Your first working model engine doesn't necessarily need to begin with a complicated multi-cylinder design.

The idea behind the L2 is straightforward:

We want it to offer a simpler and more approachable starting point for people entering the world of working miniature engines.

Because it's designed as a running miniature engine rather than a purely static model, the experience can continue beyond assembly. Builders can begin exploring how a real miniature engine operates while observing how its mechanical components work together.

If you're already familiar with the SEMTO ST-NF2 , the two can be thought of as choices for different stages of the miniature-engine journey.

The ST-NF2 offers a more advanced twin-cylinder four-stroke engine experience, with a more complex engine structure and broader possibilities for further experimentation.

The L2, by comparison, is intended to emphasize:

Simple • Visible • Easier to Start

If you're looking for your first working miniature engine, that's exactly the role we hope the L2 can fill.

Stirlingkit FDLD-02 Hinged Mechanical Lamp
NEW PRODUCT 03

FDLD-02 Hinged Mechanical Lamp

DESIGNED TO PAIR WITH THE SE-04

What can mechanical power do besides keep a flywheel spinning?

The FDLD-02 is built around that question.

With its green shade, articulated arm, and exposed joints, the lamp has a distinctive vintage industrial character. The mechanical structure itself becomes part of the visual design.

But the more interesting part is its relationship with the upcoming SE-04 Desktop Steam Engine.

The two are designed to be used as a combined mechanical display. When paired with the appropriate power-transfer and generating setup, the system can demonstrate how steam power can ultimately be converted into light.

ENERGY CONVERSION
Steam Power → Mechanical Motion → Electricity → Light

Instead of stopping at “the engine is running,” this combination explores a more interesting question: What can the power produced by a machine actually be used for?

Stirlingkit SE-04 Desktop Steam Engine
NEW PRODUCT 04

SE-04 Desktop Steam Engine

FROM STEAM TO MECHANICAL POWER

Classic steam mechanics still have an important place in the upcoming Stirlingkit lineup.

The SE-04 preserves one of the most fascinating characteristics of a traditional reciprocating steam engine:

You can see the mechanical movement happening right in front of you.

In a typical reciprocating steam-engine mechanism, steam drives a piston, and the connecting-rod and crank mechanism converts that reciprocating movement into rotation.

MECHANICAL MOTION
Steam → Piston → Connecting Rod → Flywheel

Modern machines often hide their working mechanisms behind covers and housings. Classic steam engines do almost the opposite: they let you watch the machine work.

This time, however, we don't want the SE-04 experience to end when the flywheel starts turning.

The engine is also designed to be paired with the FDLD-02 Hinged Mechanical Lamp. With the appropriate power-transfer and generating setup, the combination can further demonstrate how mechanical power can be converted into electricity and used for lighting.

SE-04 + FDLD-02
Steam Engine → Mechanical Power → Electricity → Light

From understanding how a steam engine moves to seeing how mechanical power can be put to use, that's what makes the SE-04 + FDLD-02 combination especially interesting.

Stirlingkit B09 Single-Cylinder Engine
NEW PRODUCT 05

B09 Single-Cylinder Engine

INSPIRED BY CLASSIC STATIONARY ENGINES

The B09 is one of the upcoming models with a particularly strong classic mechanical character.

Its design draws inspiration from early single-cylinder stationary engines.

A large flywheel, single-cylinder layout, and open mechanical structure are all recognizable features associated with this style of classic machinery.

Rather than describing the B09 as an exact miniature replica of one specific historical engine, our goal is to preserve the mechanical language and visual character of classic stationary engines while adapting selected structures and details for miniature-scale operation and assembly.

During operation, the relationship between the piston, connecting rod, crankshaft, and flywheel can be observed relatively clearly.

Combustion → Piston → Connecting Rod → Crankshaft → Flywheel

That's one of the reasons classic stationary engines continue to fascinate mechanical enthusiasts: the machine doesn't try to hide how it works.

We're currently exploring both KIT and pre-assembled versions, giving builders and collectors different ways to experience the model.

Stirlingkit B04 Associated Lil Brother Hit and Miss Engine
NEW PRODUCT 06

B04 Associated Lil' Brother Hit-and-Miss Engine

A MINIATURE INTERPRETATION OF A CLASSIC HIT-AND-MISS ENGINE

If the B09 represents the straightforward mechanical character of an early stationary engine, the B04 introduces a very different operating personality.

The design takes inspiration from the classic Associated Lil' Brother Hit-and-Miss Engine.

Our aim is to reinterpret some of the most recognizable characteristics associated with this type of engine, including its large flywheels, open mechanical layout, and distinctive hit-and-miss operating rhythm.

In a typical hit-and-miss governing system, under light load the engine can skip firing cycles once sufficient speed has been reached. As the engine slows, firing resumes.

THE CLASSIC RHYTHM
Hit... Miss... Miss... Hit...

The large flywheels are more than a visual reference to vintage machinery. They store rotational energy and help keep the engine moving through non-firing cycles.

During development, we're working to preserve the mechanical character associated with this classic engine style while adapting the structure where appropriate for miniature operation and assembly.

We're also exploring both KIT and pre-assembled versions.

Stirlingkit Turbine Steam Power Plant
NEW PRODUCT 07

Turbine Steam Power Plant

A NEW TURBINE-POWERED DIRECTION FOR STIRLINGKIT

This is one of the upcoming products we're especially excited to introduce.

It represents a new direction in Stirlingkit's steam-powered mechanical models:

Our first attempt at introducing a steam-powered model built around a turbine structure.

The desktop steam engines many enthusiasts are familiar with usually rely on pistons, connecting rods, cranks, and flywheels.

A turbine approaches steam power differently.

At the most basic level, moving steam acts on the turbine blades and causes the turbine to rotate, converting energy carried by the steam into rotational mechanical energy.

THE KEY DIFFERENCE
Steam → Turbine → Rotation

And that's the biggest highlight of this project: the turbine itself.

Instead of focusing on the reciprocating movement of pistons and connecting rods, this model provides a different way to observe how steam can be converted into rotational motion.

As development continues, we'll share more about the model's final structure, configuration, and operating experience.

Stirlingkit V16 Nordic Vertical Gasoline Engine
NEW PRODUCT 08

V16 Nordic Vertical Gasoline Engine

NORDIC-INSPIRED MECHANICAL DESIGN

The V16 has a very different mechanical character from the B09 and B04.

One of its most distinctive qualities is its Nordic-inspired industrial style.

Its design language draws inspiration from classic Nordic stationary engines. A vertical-cylinder layout, prominent flywheel, open mechanical structure, and simple vintage proportions give the model a distinctive appearance.

Rather than presenting the V16 as an exact reproduction of one specific historic engine, we want it to capture the broader mechanical character associated with this style of classic machinery.

Recognizable proportions, the exposed mechanism, and the flywheel help preserve that visual language, while selected structures and details can be adapted to suit the practical requirements of a working miniature gasoline engine.

The machinery itself was part of the beauty.

That's the feeling we hope the V16 can preserve: a miniature machine with the visual character of classic Nordic engineering, designed to become a working mechanical model rather than simply a static display piece.

Stirlingkit F1 Racing Car Mechanical Model
NEW PRODUCT 09

F1 Racing Car Mechanical Model

FROM CLASSIC ENGINES TO MODERN RACING ENGINEERING

After exploring classic stationary engines and steam power, we're jumping forward into a very different mechanical world: racing engineering.

Formula-style racing cars bring together many areas of engineering — aerodynamics, suspension, chassis structure, mechanical packaging, and weight management — all with performance in mind.

PERFORMANCE.

That's why we don't want this upcoming model to become simply another racing car that looks good on a shelf.

We want it to continue an idea that runs through many Stirlingkit mechanical models: building something should also help you understand it.

Build it. Understand it. Enjoy the mechanics.

For enthusiasts interested in racing, automotive engineering, mechanical structures, and DIY models, this project represents another direction Stirlingkit is exploring beyond traditional engine models.

Stirlingkit Biomimetic Jellyfish Night Light
NEW PRODUCT 10

Biomimetic Jellyfish Night Light

WHEN MECHANICS BEGIN TO IMITATE LIFE

Beyond engines, steam power, and automotive mechanics, we're also experimenting with some lighter and more creative mechanical projects.

The Biomimetic Jellyfish Night Light is one of them.

Instead of asking how to produce more power, this project asks a very different question:

Can a mechanical structure imitate movement found in nature?

The model explores how mechanical movement can suggest the expanding, contracting, and floating motion associated with a jellyfish, while lighting adds a softer visual atmosphere.

Mechanical Model + Ambient Light + Kinetic Art

It's not the most traditional Stirlingkit project in this lineup, but it represents another possibility we're interested in exploring: mechanics don't always have to imitate machines.

Stirlingkit Biomimetic Hummingbird Mechanical Model
NEW PRODUCT 11

Biomimetic Hummingbird

REINTERPRETING NATURAL MOVEMENT THROUGH MECHANICS

If the jellyfish represents soft, flowing biomimetic motion, the hummingbird presents a very different mechanical challenge.

Hummingbirds are known for their distinctive wing movement, and this project explores how mechanical structures can reinterpret that sense of motion.

Visually, the model sits closer to a mechanical sculpture. But the more interesting part is the mechanism that turns a static structure into something dynamic.

Once the mechanism begins moving, the contrast between cold mechanical components and an organic form creates an entirely different experience from a traditional engine model.

Can a mechanical structure make an object feel almost alive?

Engines allow us to explore the history of human-made machinery. Biomimetic mechanics give us another direction: using mechanisms to reinterpret movement found in nature.

WHERE WE'RE HEADING

From Classic Inspiration to New Mechanical Ideas

Put these upcoming products together, and the direction of Stirlingkit's 2026 lineup becomes clearer.

We'll continue developing products for people who genuinely enjoy engines and mechanical engineering.

Models such as the B09, B04, and V16 allow us to draw inspiration from classic machinery, historic engine types, and different industrial design traditions.

But for us:

“Inspired by the classics” doesn't simply mean making something smaller.

Preserve the Character. Rethink the Details. Make It Run.

At the same time, we're gradually expanding what a Stirlingkit mechanical model can be.

The L2 is intended to make working miniature engines more approachable for beginners.

The SE-04 + FDLD-02 combination explores how mechanical power can be put to use.

The Turbine Steam Power Plant introduces a turbine structure into this part of the Stirlingkit steam-powered lineup.

And beyond that, we're exploring racing engineering and biomimetic mechanics.

They may look very different from one another, but they all revolve around the same four ideas:

Motion • Power • Mechanisms • Engineering

A truly interesting mechanical model shouldn't become interesting only after it reaches the display shelf.

Part of the experience is opening the box and seeing a collection of components that don't yet seem connected.

Why does this part sit here? Why does the linkage move this way? Why does the engine need such a large flywheel?

Then, piece by piece, the relationships begin to make sense.

You don't just see that the machine moves. You begin to understand why it moves.
