1Find This Tool Before You Start

  • It's essential for securing the steering mechanism — find it and set it aside right after unboxing

2Skip the Screw Magnetizer

  • The screws in this kit are stainless steel and non-magnetic
  • A standard screw magnetizer won't work on them — no need to buy one just for this kit

3Two Manual Errata to Know Before You Begin

  • The step numbering on page 86 is incorrect — refer to step 148 for the correct assembly info
  • The components for steps 43 and 160 are already factory pre-assembled — you don't need to source or install extra loose parts for them

4Set Screws: Steps 109 & 60 (Pay Close Attention ⚠️)

  • These are headless hex set screws. The screw tip must land on the flat face of the gearbox shaft — not the round surface
  • Getting it wrong triggers a chain reaction: misalignment → screw presses against the curved shaft surface → localized stress builds up → the aluminum threads deform → thread stripping
  • Turn slowly and by hand the whole way through. The moment you feel unusual resistance, stop. Never force it.

  • Check for: binding, unusual noise, and uneven rotation
  • Don't continue until it turns smoothly — once the surrounding structure is closed up, fixing a mechanical issue takes much longer

6Bearings vs. Gears/Chain: Different Lubrication Rules

  • Sealed bearings come pre-lubricated from the factory — ready to use. Adding extra oil can actually attract dust and speed up wear
  • Open gears and chain do need extra lubrication
  • Easiest method: dip the tip of a toothpick in a small amount of lubricant and apply it to the gear teeth or chain contact surfaces
  • Less is more — use a light touch and keep oil off the model's outer surfaces

7Handle the Spoked Wheels Gently

  • The spoked wheels are delicate and don't tolerate uneven pressure well
  • Avoid pressing straight down on the hub — uneven force can warp the rim and throw the wheel out of round
  • Hold the rubber tire or the thicker part of the hub when handling the wheel, not the thin spokes

8Level the Three Wheels

  • Place the assembled structure on a flat, stable surface
  • Loosen the wheel mounting screws and fine-tune each wheel's position until all three sit firmly on the surface, the model doesn't rock, and no wheel is visibly lifted
  • Once it's stable, re-tighten the screws

9Wiring: Foolproof by Design — Don't Worry About Reversed Polarity

  • The manual clearly marks where the micro motor and battery pack go — just follow the sequence
  • The connectors are keyed: each shape only fits its matching port, and it can't be inserted the wrong way
  • As long as you're following the normal build sequence, reversed polarity isn't something you need to worry about

  • Wipe fingerprints and oil off metal surfaces with a dry, soft cloth to prevent oxidation
  • For long-term display, a clear dust cover is worth adding — dust builds up on fine mechanical structures over time and can affect smooth operation
