How to Set Up and Start the ENJOMOR GS-V12 on the Integrated Base Kit

This guide walks you through setting up the Complete Integrated Base Kit with the ENJOMOR GS-V12 72cc engine and starting it for the first time. Please follow the steps in order and take your time. Each step only needs to be done carefully once.

About the ENJOMOR GS-V12

The ENJOMOR GS-V12 is a working 72cc V12 four-stroke gasoline engine model. It features a dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) layout with 48 valves (4 per cylinder), and its exposed timing belts let you watch the cams turn. The engine is water-cooled by a side-mounted pump and lubricated by a separate oil pump, with a transparent oil well cover so you can check the oil level at a glance. Ignition is handled by a Hall-type CDI system with dual distributors, one for each cylinder bank, and a brushless starter motor provides electric start. The CNC-machined aluminum housing includes an integrated exhaust manifold.

Displacement: 72cc
Bore × stroke: 20 × 18 mm
Max RPM: 10,000
Max power: 3.8 kW
Weight: approx. 8 kg

On the Integrated Base Kit, the engine is paired with everything it needs to run: CDI ignition, an 80A 24V ESC, a fuel tank with a level window, a large radiator, and a control panel that displays RPM, oil temperature and water temperature.

What You'll Need

  • Engine oil: 0W–10W grade, about 70–80 ml
  • Fuel: 95 or 98 octane (RON) pure gasoline, which is premium unleaded (91 or higher) at US pumps. No oil mixing is needed, as this is a four-stroke engine.
  • Coolant
  • A 24V power source for the starter motor (e.g. a 6S battery)
  • A 12V power source for the ignition
  • A fuel syringe and a small screwdriver

Part 1: Install the Sensors and Cooling Parts

Step 1. Install the water pump

Installing the water pump on the ENJOMOR GS-V12 engine

Position the water pump on the engine and tighten the mounting screws with a screwdriver.

Step 2. Fit the speed sensor magnet

Fitting the speed sensor magnet on the GS-V12 flywheel, convex side out

Fit the magnet into the flywheel with its convex (domed) side facing outward. The speed sensor reads this magnet to show engine RPM on the control panel. If the magnet faces the wrong way, the RPM display may show no reading.

Step 3. Install the oil temperature sensor

Installing the oil temperature sensor on the GS-V12

Screw the brass oil temperature sensor into its port on the engine and tighten it by hand.

Step 4. Connect the water cooling tube

Connecting the water cooling tube on the base kit

Push the water cooling tube firmly onto its fitting on the base.

Part 2: Connect the Wiring and Lines

Step 5. Adjust the speed sensor distance

Adjusting the speed sensor distance on the base kit

Adjust the distance between the speed sensor and the flywheel magnet so the sensor can pick up the signal.

Step 6. Secure the oil temperature sensor wire

Securing the oil temperature sensor wire on the GS-V12

Fasten the power wire to the oil temperature sensor terminal. This sensor feeds the oil temperature display on the control panel.

Step 7. Connect the water temperature sensor in line

Connecting the water pipe in series with the water temperature sensor

Connect the water pipe in series with the water temperature sensor, so coolant flows through the sensor and the water temperature display can read it.

Step 8. Connect the starter motor to the ESC

Connecting the GS-V12 starter motor to the ESC

Plug the leads of the brushless starter motor into the 80A ESC (electronic speed controller) on the base.

Step 9. Connect the right-side ignition CDI

Connecting the right-side ignition CDI on the GS-V12

The GS-V12 uses two distributors, one for each cylinder bank, and each has its own CDI. Connect the CDI for the right-side distributor.

Step 10. Connect the Hall sensor wire

Connecting the Hall sensor wire, white to white

Connect the Hall sensor plug with the white wire matched to the white wire. Check that the colors line up before pushing the plug all the way in.

Step 11. Secure the ground wire

Securing the CDI and oil temperature gauge ground wire

Fasten the ground wire shared by the CDI and the oil temperature gauge.

Step 12. Connect the left-side ignition CDI

Connecting the left-side ignition CDI on the GS-V12

Connect the CDI for the left-side distributor, the same way as in Step 9.

Step 13. Connect the fuel line

Connecting the gasoline fuel line to the base kit fuel tank

Connect the gasoline fuel line to the fuel tank fitting on the base.

Part 3: Fill Coolant, Oil and Fuel

Step 14. Fill the coolant

Filling coolant and bleeding air from the GS-V12 cooling system

Fill the cooling system with coolant.

Important: Make sure all air is pushed out of the cooling chamber. Trapped air can stop the coolant from circulating properly.

Step 15. Add engine oil

Adding 70-80 ml of engine oil to the GS-V12

Add about 70–80 ml of 0W–10W engine oil. The oil well cover is transparent, so you can check the level without taking anything apart.

Step 16. Add gasoline

Adding gasoline to the base kit fuel tank with a syringe

Use the syringe to add 95 or 98 octane pure gasoline into the fuel tank on the base. The tank has a level window so you can see how much is inside. Wipe up any spills before continuing.

Part 4: Power On and Start the Engine

Step 17. Connect the 24V power supply

Connecting the 24V power supply to the base kit

Connect the 24V power supply (e.g. a 6S battery). This powers the ESC and the starter motor.

Step 18. Connect the 12V power supply

Connecting the 12V power supply to the DC 12V port

Plug the 12V power supply into the port marked DC 12V. This powers the CDI ignition.

Step 19. Turn on the power switches in order

Turning on the Power, Igniter and Start buttons on the control panel

The front panel has three buttons. Press them in this order:

  1. Power – switches on the starter battery.
  2. Igniter – switches on the ignition.
  3. Start – gets the starter ready.

The displays on the panel will light up and show the engine RPM, oil temperature and water temperature.

Step 20. Start the engine

Slowly turn the speed control knob. The ESC spins up the starter motor to turn the engine over until it fires.

Important Notes

Safety

  • This engine runs on gasoline. Always work in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames, sparks and heat sources.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher within reach whenever you fuel or run the engine.
  • Keep both power supplies switched off and unplugged until all wiring, lines and fluids are in place (Steps 1–16).
  • Engine parts become hot during and after running. Let the engine cool down before touching it or making adjustments.
  • Keep fingers, loose clothing and wires away from the timing belts and flywheel while the engine is turning.

Power Supplies

  • The base uses two separate power sources: 24V for the starter (ESC) and 12V for the ignition (CDI). Double-check that each one goes to its matching port before switching on.
  • Always press the buttons in order: Power first, then Igniter, then Start. Following the same order every time helps avoid starting problems.

Before Every Start

  • Check the oil level through the transparent oil well cover.
  • Check that there is enough fuel in the tank.
  • Check that the coolant lines are connected securely and there are no leaks.

While the Engine Is Running

  • Keep an eye on the water temperature and oil temperature displays.
  • If you notice leaks, unusual noises or smoke, switch off the power right away.

If Something Doesn't Look Right

  • The RPM display shows no reading: check that the flywheel magnet faces convex side out (Step 2), then check the gap between the speed sensor and the magnet (Step 5).
  • The engine turns over but doesn't fire: check that both CDIs are connected (Steps 9 and 12), the Hall sensor wires are matched white to white (Step 10), the ground wire is secured (Step 11), and the 12V supply is connected (Step 18).
  • The water temperature rises quickly: there may still be air in the cooling system. Stop the engine, let it cool, and bleed the air again (Step 14).
