Looking for ways to bring your Toyan V8 engine to life? Whether you're into RC cars, model boats, or just love hearing that authentic mechanical roar on your desktop, this guide covers the most exciting and creative ways to use your Toyan V8 — and maybe even spark your next big project.
1. Install in an RC Car
Why?
The Toyan V8 delivers real mechanical sound and motion, perfect for building a realistic scale vehicle.
Project Ideas:
1/8 or 1/10 scale 4WD off-road truck
Muscle car or classic race car builds
Mods to Consider:
Hydraulic disc brakes
Tuned exhaust system for better sound
Reinforced drivetrain to handle torque
Liumutou’s GT 500 RC Car Project — Bringing V8 Muscle to Life
One of the most impressive builds from our community is Liumutou’s stunning RC GT 500, powered by the Toyan V8 engine. This project perfectly captures the thrill of real muscle car performance — scaled down with authentic engine sound, smooth running, and eye-catching detail.
Liumutou took us through the entire journey in this YouTube video, showing every step from assembly to firing up the engine inside the sleek RC chassis. The craftsmanship and dedication shine through, proving just how exciting it is to fit a real combustion V8 into a miniature car.
Liumutou shared:
“I built an RC car with a TOYAN V8 engine and assembled and ran a miniature V8 engine! The GT model truly came alive with the roar and feel of a real V8 under the hood. It was challenging but incredibly rewarding — this build shows what the Toyan engine can really do.”
This build is a perfect example of how the Toyan V8 engine transforms RC vehicles from simple models into thrilling miniature muscle cars — packed with power, sound, and character.
Jamie’s New Toyan V8 Project — Another Exciting Build in Progress
Jamie has been doing some really cool projects for a while now. He built a Morgan 3-wheeler powered by the V2 engine — that was a great success. He also created the FrankenTruck with the Cison V8 and L4 transmission, which runs really well.
Now Jamie’s taking on something new — the Toyan V8 engine. He’s still working out the details and hasn’t settled on the exact vehicle yet, but he’s made good progress on the mechanical side and is ready to start building the chassis.
Here’s what Jamie says about it:
“When I first saw the New Toyan V8 this is the image that popped up in my head so I had to order and make it a reality.
I've got the mechanical all figured out now I just have to build the chassis.
Just waiting for the front wheel and rear driveshaft to arrive.😁
The Toyan V8 is running nicely, so now I can start building.
Can't wait to drive it🤘”
It’s great to see how Jamie keeps pushing boundaries and inspiring others in the community to try out their own Cison and Toyan V8 engine projects.
⛵ 2. Install in an RC Boat
Why?
Its compact size and high output make the Toyan V8 ideal for powering large RC boats.
Project Ideas:
High-speed racing boats
Military-style warships with functional props
Mods to Consider:
Add a water-cooling system
Waterproof casing for electronics
Efficient propeller setup and throttle control
Andrew’s Timber RC Boat Project — Queen
Andrew is working on an ambitious large-scale timber-on-frame RC boat named Queen, designed to be powered by the Toyan V8 engine. Having previously built an electric-powered version, he now plans to create a fully custom combustion-powered model that highlights the engine’s realistic sound and mechanical detail.
Andrew shared:
“I have a project I need it for — possibly a V8 boat. I will do a full build when I have a working engine. This boat hull is for something else. When the engine runs, I will buy another boat kit and build it from scratch and include the engine. It's a timber on frame and very large, so it will look scale for the engine. It can be built for electric — my first one is — the second for your engine.”
🛩️ 3. Desktop Demo Engine / Teaching Display
Why?
Perfect for showcasing engine mechanics and combustion in action.
Project Ideas:
Desktop startup simulator
See-through valve covers for visual effect
LED-lit combustion chamber or exhaust
Bonus:
Connect it to an Arduino or Raspberry Pi for RPM/temperature sensors and a live display.
🏁 4. Add to a Racing Simulator Setup (for Sound + Vibe)
Why?
Use the real engine to enhance immersion by linking engine sound and vibration to your sim rig.
Project Ideas:
Engine starts up when your sim rig powers on
Match RPM to simulator telemetry (advanced mod)
⚡ 5. DIY Generator Project
Why?
Harness the mechanical output of the Toyan V8 to turn a tiny generator.
Project Ideas:
Power a mini LED array or fan
Simulate a backup generator for fun or educational purposes
🧠 6. STEM/STEAM Educational Platform
Why?
A great visual and hands-on tool for teaching how combustion engines work.
Project Ideas:
Compare internal combustion vs electric motors
Use it in maker classrooms for assembly and tuning practice
Host “engine build-off” competitions
