My second purchase from Stirling, and once again they’ve delivered something truly special. The first kit impressed me so much that picking up a second was an easy decision, and this Stationary Steam Mill Engine and Boiler model kit absolutely lives up to the excitement.The craftsmanship is excellent, the components are well‑made, and everything arrives exactly as promised. Assembly is engaging without being frustrating, and the finished model has the satisfying presence and mechanical charm that makes these kits so addictive.If I had to offer one minor critique, it would be the governor design—it works, but it could be refined a bit more. That said, it’s a very small note in an otherwise outstanding experience, and it doesn’t diminish my enthusiasm for this purchase in the slightest.Stirling continues to impress. This kit is a winner.
Hands down a great build, detailed instructions, tools supplied, customer service just an email aways. If you have kids and or grandkids they will love this old past time come alive. Sterlingkit will take care of all your needs. Have fun with your steam!!!
This is a realistic model steam engine that looks the part. Every aspect of this SE-03 has the best finish and detail of any model. And the price is not unreasonable for the quality provided. A certain German steam engine provider for nearly the same price uses stamped sheet metal parts, a non-working govenor, and no ball bearings. On this one, the flyball governor actually works. My only negative is the pressure gauge. It is not up to the detail and quality of the rest of this engine. Worse, it is a press fit, and when steam pressure begins to build, the gauge rocket launches into the atmosphere. This one item needs some redesigning. If the pressure gauge were up to the level of the rest of this model, I would rate this as the best boiler/steam engine commercially available. And get the workshop. Makes a great combo!
Nicely made and packaged. Delivery was earlier than quoted. The build was fairly straightforward with clear assembly instructions. It was great fun to build and run, Just be careful of some of the very small parts. They are easy to drop and loose and there are only limited spares. The only negative comment was for the burner. It uses a cotton type wick in an open cup for the spirit fuel. Aside from this it takes one fill and burn to get up to steam and then a refill of the burner for a second run that lasts around 10 mins, but when running it looks, smells, runs and powers the generator very well.
