Welcome! If you just got your Flywing EC135 and want to start flying ASAP, this guide is for you. I’ll walk you through everything — from unpacking to your first flight, to advanced features like return-to-home and manual flying. Let’s get started!

1. Unboxing and Initial Setup

Packaging & Contents: Your EC135 comes in a sturdy box to protect it during shipping. Inside you’ll find:

The EC135 helicopter (almost ready to fly)

The radio transmitter (remote controller)

Battery charger with USB cable

One or more batteries (depending on your purchase)

Quick start guide and a metal multi-tool

Binding plug (in case you use a different radio)

Radio Transmitter:

Runs on 4 AA batteries (not included).

The joysticks rest in the center by default.

The radio can switch between mode 1 and mode 2 if you prefer (just flip the switch).

Helicopter Prep:

Install the main rotor blades:

Take any blade, push it into the rotor head, twist slightly, then release to lock.

Charge the battery:

Plug the charger into the wall outlet.

Switch the charger to “Charging” mode (not “Storage”).

Connect the balance cable from your helicopter battery to the charger.

Charging time depends on battery capacity — wait until fully charged before flying.

2. Radio and Helicopter Power On

Insert Batteries: Put 4 fresh AA batteries into the radio.

Turn On Radio: Switch it on, make sure joysticks are centered.

Bind Radio to Helicopter (usually pre-bound):

If you use the supplied radio, it’s already bound.

If using your own radio, use the binding plug to connect receiver and bind as per instructions.

Power On Helicopter: Plug battery into helicopter and turn it on.

3. Flight Mode and Switch Overview

On the radio controller, there are several switches you need to know:

Left Switch (Top Left):

“Stop” position — motors off

“Run” position — motors enabled

Flight Mode Switches:

GPS Mode: Enables GPS stabilization for easier flying and hovering.

Normal Mode: Stabilizes but allows manual input.

3D Mode: Manual flying, no self-leveling — for advanced users only.

4. Starting the Helicopter Motors

Hold both joysticks down and outward for 5 seconds (count 1-2-3-4-5).

Release joysticks.

Flick the “Stop/Run” switch to “Run.”

Wait for the rotors to spin up and sound stable.

To take off, slowly push the left joystick up a little if you use left-hand throttle, or the right joystick if you fly with right-hand throttle.

5. Basic Flying Tips

Hovering: With GPS mode enabled, the heli will hold position and altitude very steadily — perfect for beginners.

Moving: Slowly push the joysticks forward, backward, left, and right to move the heli gently.

Turning: Use the right joystick to rotate the helicopter in place.

Return-to-Home: When activated, the helicopter will automatically rise, fly back, and land close to the takeoff spot.

6. Advanced Flight Functions

3D Mode (Manual Flying): For advanced users who want full manual control without stabilization. Just like Jedi Steve, he took over for this demo, showing smooth manual flight maneuvers. Beginners should avoid this until confident.

7. Landing and Stopping

To land, slowly lower the helicopter using the left joystick.

To stop the motors and power down the helicopter, simply switch the main power switch off. Do not push the joysticks forward to stop the motors.

8. Tips and Notes

The EC135 is the biggest helicopter Flywing offers — it looks impressive and has a slim body with a large tail rotor.

It’s easy to fly for beginners because it stabilizes itself using GPS. You don’t need to calibrate GPS manually — it locks onto satellites within 10 to 20 seconds.

The radio is simple but lacks advanced telemetry like battery percentage or flight time announcements. If you want, you can bind your own more advanced radio and receiver for these features.

The four-bladed rotor setup keeps the noise level low, making flying quieter and more enjoyable.

The kit comes ready-to-fly with everything you need: battery, charger, radio, helicopter, and tools.

9. Final Words

This EC135 is a fantastic choice if you want a ready-to-fly, beginner-friendly RC helicopter that can grow with you. Start in GPS mode, get comfortable with basic controls, and once confident, try manual and 3D modes. Remember to always check your switches and battery levels before flying.

Great that you have all these questions and answers as it was very helpful in knowing which way to go with this type of helicopter. Great information for people like me had Helis years ago so probably a beginner again now.
