Product details

A real ring of glowing plasma, floating inside a glass sphere on your desk. This is not your childhood plasma ball: instead of random lightning arcs, you get a steady, adjustable glow that you can watch for hours. Choose your gas, sphere size and base below.

Choose Your Gas

Each noble gas glows in its own color and forms its own shape.

Xenon plasma ring light with purple plasma ring Xenon

Purple Ring

A crisp blue-violet ring of plasma, floating in the center of the sphere. The classic plasma toroid look.

Krypton plasma sphere with pink plasma beads Krypton

Pink Beads

Soft pink plasma beads that glow and drift inside the sphere. A gentler, more organic effect.

Neon plasma sphere with red plasma glow Neon

Red Glow

A warm red plasma glow, the same color that made neon signs famous.

Choose Your Base

The glass sphere and plasma effect are the same. The difference is how the base is made.

Enclosed

Clean Look, Touch-Safe

All wiring and circuitry are housed inside the shell, so the whole base is safe to touch. The best choice for homes, offices and gifts.

Open-Frame

See the Circuit

The stacked circuit boards, induction coil, heatsink and cooling fan are fully visible, for makers who want to see exactly how the plasma is driven. Touch only the glass sphere and the PVC parts while it is on.

Why You'll Love It

  • Real plasma, not a plasma ball: A classic plasma ball shows random arcs. This lamp forms a stable plasma shape in the center of the sphere. The xenon ring is the same donut shape (toroid) studied in tokamak fusion research, at desktop scale.
  • Electrode-free: An induction coil around the sphere excites the gas from outside the glass. Nothing inside touches the plasma, so there are no electrodes to wear out.
  • Adjustable with one knob: Turn the knob to start the plasma, then adjust its brightness and how thick the glowing ring appears, from a fine line to a bold band.
  • Interactive: Bring your finger to the glass and watch the plasma react.
  • Bright enough for a lit room: The glow stays clearly visible with the lights on, and looks even more striking in the dark.
  • Made for your desk: A conversation piece for engineers, makers and science fans, and a memorable gift.

How to Use

  1. Place the lamp on a flat, dry surface. Make sure the glass sphere is seated in the coil before powering on. Never run the lamp without the sphere.
  2. Connect the power adapter and plug it in.
  3. Slowly turn the knob until the indicator light comes on and the plasma forms.
  4. Once the plasma appears, turn the knob back slightly. This normal setting is ideal for long viewing.
  5. If the plasma does not form, touch the glass sphere and restart the lamp.
You can turn the knob to maximum for a short time for a brighter effect, but this will trigger the built-in power protection. Not recommended for long-term use.

Safety & Care

  • Glass sphere: Safe to touch. It warms up during use, so avoid keeping your hand on it for long periods.
  • Enclosed base: The whole base is safe to touch.
  • Open-Frame base: Touch only the glass sphere and PVC parts. Never touch the metal parts, coil or circuit boards while the lamp is on, as this can cause electric shock or burns.
  • Turn the lamp off and unplug it before moving it.
  • Handle the sphere with care, especially the sealed glass tip on top.
  • Keep the lamp in a dry, well-ventilated spot. It is not waterproof.
  • People with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices should keep a distance while the lamp is on.
  • Keep away from children and pets. Recommended for ages 16+.
  • Use only the original power adapter. Do not disassemble: the lamp contains high-voltage circuitry and a sealed low-pressure glass sphere.

FAQ

Which gas should I choose for my Plasma Ring Light?

Choose Xenon for the classic purple plasma ring, Krypton for soft pink plasma beads, or Neon for a warm red glow. Many collectors start with Xenon and add the other colors later.

What's the difference between the Enclosed and Open-Frame base?

The glass sphere and plasma effect are the same. The Enclosed base houses all wiring inside the shell, so the whole lamp is safe to touch. The Open-Frame base shows the circuit boards and coil; only the glass sphere and PVC parts should be touched while it is on.

How long can the Plasma Ring Light run?

Run time and heat depend on the power setting. At the normal setting, it is designed for extended use. Higher settings make it run hotter, so use maximum power only briefly.

Why doesn't the plasma form when I turn on my Plasma Ring Light?

Make sure the sphere is fully seated in the coil, then slowly turn the knob until the indicator light comes on. If the plasma still does not form, touch the glass sphere and restart the lamp.

Why did my Plasma Ring Light shut off at maximum?

That is the built-in power protection. Turn the knob back a little to the normal setting.

How is the Plasma Ring Light different from a regular plasma ball?

A plasma ball shows random lightning arcs. The Plasma Ring Light forms a stable plasma shape, such as the xenon ring, and you can adjust its brightness and thickness with the knob.

Can I see the Plasma Ring Light glow with the lights on?

Yes. The glow is clearly visible in a lit room, and even more dramatic in the dark.

Which plug will I receive?

We ship the plug type that matches your country, based on your shipping address.

What is the warranty on the Plasma Ring Light?

Every Plasma Ring Light comes with a 6-month warranty. If you have any issue, contact us at service@stirlingkit.com.
