This is the story behind our 185 engine model. It’s more than just a machine—it's a memory of a time when hard work and family were intertwined with the land. Today, we've recreated it as a fully functional metal model—not just to relive those days, but to offer mechanical enthusiasts and collectors a piece of industrial history that’s built to last. This isn’t just something to display—it’s something you can use.
The 185F Diesel Engine traces its roots back to the 1950s in Italy, originally designed to replace traditional animal-drawn carts and improve farming efficiency. Powered by a British-made single-cylinder diesel engine, it incorporated many parts from WWII military vehicles, marking a significant step in Europe’s agricultural mechanization. This engine played a key role in the evolution of modern farming machinery and has continued to power various agricultural and industrial applications for decades.
After being introduced to China and locally modified, it evolved into the 185F Diesel Engine. For decades, it has quietly powered farming, irrigation pumps, factory machinery—and more. It's been a reliable companion that has “run for decades.”
We've created many desktop engine models in the past—engines that move and show off but "don't last long." So we asked ourselves: Could we create a model that doesn't just move, but keeps going for years?
That’s how the 185 project was born. It’s not just a display piece—it’s a machine designed to run, built to perform.

This engine is pre-assembled and ready to be mounted onto your tractor chassis or mechanical rig. Simply secure it using four M2.5 screws, and the clutch housing is tightly fixed with eight M1.6 screws for solid alignment.
Whether you're powering a water pump, running a CNC machine, charging a battery, or exploring mechanical motion, this fully assembled engine is designed to adapt and deliver real output through its flywheel-side pulley or generator module.

This engine is equipped with a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) system, replacing the older Hall-effect sensor. With fixed ignition timing, you get a consistent spark every time, ensuring reliable performance from start to finish. You’ll still hear that satisfying mechanical click, but now with smooth, trouble-free operation and no digital delays—just pure mechanical reliability.
To keep the engine running at its best, we’ve added a dual-layer oil filtration system. It catches any dirt or debris before they can get into the engine, helping protect the internal parts, reduce wear, and extend the time between maintenance. This engine is built to deliver real mechanical performance, providing an authentic experience that lasts.

Originally, we had planned to release a full tractor version, but after seeing the production costs, we realized it would be nearly double the price of the engine model. This led us to temporarily pause the tractor release to make sure we could offer something more accessible and affordable for our customers.
We also considered releasing a kit version for those who love the challenge of assembly. However, after testing, we found that assembling the tractor took our engineers over 6 hours. We wanted to create something enjoyable to build, so we decided to focus on the engine version first, which will provide a smoother experience for enthusiasts.
We’ve designed two versions of the 185 gas powered Engine model, each with its unique features to cater to different enthusiasts:
Generator Version — Light Up a Lamp, Ignite the Soul of Mechanics

1. Is this a real working engine or just a model?
Yes, it’s a fully functional internal combustion engine. It runs on gasoline mixed with oil, uses real spark ignition, and outputs mechanical power via the pulley or generator module.
2. Why does the real engine use diesel, but this one uses gasoline?
Real 185 engines were diesel-powered. But mini diesel engines are very hard to build because they need extreme compression, strong parts, and complex fuel systems. That’s why most model engines use gasoline—it’s easier to start, more forgiving, and still gives you a realistic mechanical experience. We kept the original look and motion, just made it more practical.
3. What do I need to run the engine?
To get this engine up and running, you'll need to prepare the following:
Fuel: 95# or higher unleaded gasoline
Engine oil: 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine oil, mixed with gasoline (for lubrication)
Ignition power: 3 x AA batteries (not included) to power the ignition module
Starter: You can start the engine using a hand puller or an electric drill with a soft socket adapter
Basic tools: A small screwdriver set and hex keys for minor adjustments and maintenance
Optional but helpful:
A fuel bottle for easier refueling
A tachometer if you want to measure RPM
A mounting base or platform for stable operation
Once assembled and fueled, you're ready to fire it up and enjoy the mechanical motion!
4. Can it generate electricity or drive mechanical parts?
Yes! The engine comes with a pulley output and an optional generator module in bundle. You can use it to power small loads, fans, pumps, or mechanical displays.
5. Is this engine pre-assembled or do I need to build it?
The 185 engine comes fully assembled and tested, ready to run out of the box. You only need to connect the ignition module, fuel tank, and starter.
