The steam engine went together well. My 9 year old grandson did the assembly under my watchful eye. It probably took 2.5 hours. Got it running right away. Very pleased with it as a whole.
My only gripe relates to items needed, but never discussed in the order section or even in the instructions. I saw a YT video that indicated you needed steam engine oil somewhere, along with light oil for moving parts. Nowhere in the assembly process is that steam engine oil covered. I think I figured out where it goes, but did I add enough, too much, or whatever, I have no idea.
The order page should at least have a link to where you can get the steam engine oil. Also, the kit should probably come with (or have links for ordering) appropriate hobby syringes for squirting in distilled water, steam oil and even for filling the alcohol tank. Those are some tight spaces for trying to pour those liquids.
If those fluids were covered better, instructions and sources, the whole project would be very easy.
I think I have the leaks on the boiler fixed. The burner is kind of sketchy.
I was super impressed with the superb fit and finish of every part in this kit. All parts were precision machined and finished to the most stringent standards. Operation is very smooth and the engine runs as a well engineered piece of precision machinery is expected to run! Assembly does require the handling of some very small parts, so caution is needed during assembly. The engine does emit some condensation while running so protect sensitive surfaces when in operation.

I am totally pleased with this kit. Delivery was fast (within a week), and it arrived in excellent condition. The parts were well-packaged, and assembly was straightforward. All necessary tools were provided. It took me about two hours to complete. The instructions were clear, but I would have liked to have had some tips on proper alignment of the flywheel and connecting rod. The engine worked on the first try and runs very well after some alignment tweaks. The variable cut-off and reversing capability makes operation more interesting.
