Wow!! I received the Toyan l400 today. My first impression.... It's absolutely incredible. Toyan really is listening to its customers. Wow!
I exclusively purchase my engines from Stirlingkit ❤️, and my recent experience has been outstanding. The package arrived surprisingly fast and was well-protected.
Upon opening the box, the engine's quality immediately stood out. All the parts were meticulously deburred and beveled, with a beautiful anodized finish. The inclusion of new two-piece brass connecting rods and heavier pulleys provides the engine with a smooth lower idle.
The single pump carb offers more flexibility in fuel tank placement, eliminating the need for a pressure line from the exhaust. The addition of a new 3D-printed header and intake manifold, polished to perfection, enhances the engine's visual appeal.
The distributor's adjustability is a standout feature, and it functions flawlessly. The use of bullet connectors for sparkplug wires simplifies the connection to the distributor. I've experienced no issues with the hall effect sensor, but I recommend ensuring that the sensor wires are isolated and don't come into contact with the engine.
Assembling the engine was a breeze, with all parts fitting together seamlessly—no need to force the bearing onto the camshaft. The engine started up immediately without any leaks, and the gear drive water pump proved highly efficient, requiring no priming. This engine can run tank after tank without a hitch.
If I were to offer a suggestion for improvement, it would be to revert to the Teflon oil gasket; the rubber is a bit too soft. Rubber gasket fans might not love this, but I'm throwing it out there – go back to the Teflon one. Rubber's a bit too soft for my taste. Oh, and round off those lower support corners – small tweak, big impact.Additionally, smoothing out the corners of the lower support could enhance the overall design.
Despite these minor points, the high quality of this engine is evident, and the price is more than fair. I am thoroughly impressed with the new L400 👌.
