Why Toyan Adds a Flat-four Engine FS-B400 in their lineup? | Stirlingkit

Toyan teams have been known for their unique manufacturing micro model engines in their lineups since their setup, like FS-L400, FS-V800, and FS-L200 etc. But in the year 2023, Toyan are the only micro-engine makers with flat-4 engines in their lineup. Do you know why?

1. flat engine gained prominence since the 19th century

The flat engine, also referred to as the horizontally opposed piston engine, is a prevalent configuration for internal combustion engines. Its origins trace back to the late 19th century. The earliest instance of the horizontally opposed engine emerged during the initial stages of automobile development. In 1886, German engineer Karl Benz introduced the world's inaugural mass-produced car, equipped with a horizontally opposed four-stroke internal combustion engine. This engine design positioned the cylinders symmetrically on either side of the vehicle's central axis. The engine's crankshaft was positioned beneath it and connected to the wheels through connecting rods. Thanks to its compact design and seamless operation, this engine layout quickly gained prominence within the automotive manufacturing sector of that era.

As automotive technology advanced progressively, the horizontally opposed engine found widespread application in small cars, mid-size vehicles, and luxury automobiles.

These horizontally opposed engines possess distinctive attributes and benefits, earning accolades from both automotive enthusiasts and the industry at large. Their meticulous design and engineering contribute to superior balance, enhanced handling, and an exceptional driving experience for vehicles, solidifying their status as timeless classics in automotive history.

2. Why is it Challenging to Make a FS-B400 Engine?

1. Getting the Cool Look Right: Toyan wanted to show off the cool feature of the air-cooling radiator in the horizontal engine design, but it wasn't easy to make it just right.

2. Starting Mechanism Puzzle: Toyan used a belt to start the engine, but making sure the belt worked smoothly without slipping or skipping was a bit tricky. Toyan had to come up with a smart way to keep it tight.

3. Thinking About Future Upgrades: Toyan also thought about the possibility of using gasoline in the future, so Toyan made the camshaft longer and created space for ignition components, just in case Toyan wanted to switch to gasoline fuel.

4. Tough Demands on Lubrication and Durability: These kinds of engines need really good lubrication, otherwise parts can wear out quickly. So, Toyan had to be careful when making the moving parts to make them strong and durable. For example, Toyan reduced friction in the piston's movement and made sure it could handle wear and tear. Also, the crankshaft in this kind of engine is shorter than the ones in straight engines, but it needs to be tougher, so Toyan used strong materials to make it.

All in all, Toyan put in a lot of effort to overcome these challenges and make sure our engine performs well and stays reliable.

3. What's Special about TOYAN FS-B400?

After a year of hard work, the TOYAN FS-B400 micro engine is ready for sale in Stirlingkit official website now. This engine has four cylinders arranged in a special way and is cooled by water. It's a small powerhouse that brings back the classic features of an old Porsche 911 engine from 1964.

To make this engine small but still strong, Toyan changed the camshaft and made room for the parts that started the engine. There are also two belt pulleys that work together and keep everything running smoothly. Toyan made the way the engine starts even better, so the belt that starts it lasts longer and works well.

One cool thing about this engine is how it cools down. There's a special fan that can spin really fast, up to 9000 times per minute! This fan helps the engine stay cool, work well, and give good power. This engine is the first of its kind and we made it better and better, so people who love engines will really like it!

The engine we're talking about has four cylinders and looks a certain way. You can get the parts if you want to see how it's made. If you want one that's already put together, just click "finished version" to buy it.
