Today, Kacio steam engine Chinese company continues to produce premium model steam engines.There are still some stationary steam engines running around, and Stirlingkit has listings for both these types of Kacio engines.
How a Kacio Steam Engine Works?
The water in the boiler is heated by fire, this generates steam and because it is trapped in the boiler pressure builds up. Steam can pass, however, to the cylinder via the slide valves.
The steam engine is mainly composed of a cylinder, a base, a piston, a crank connecting rod mechanism, a spool valve steam distribution mechanism, a speed regulating mechanism and a flywheel. The cylinder and base are the stationary parts.
In a steam boiler, water boils into steam through the combustion process. Steam is sent to the cylinder through pipes. The valve controls the time when the steam reaches the cylinder, enters the spool valve chamber through the main steam valve and the throttle valve, and is controlled by the spool valve to alternately enter the left or right side of the cylinder to push the piston to move. The steam pushes the piston in the cylinder to do work, and the cooled steam is introduced into the condenser through the pipe to recondensate into water. This process is repeated as the steam engine moves.
A typical steam engine has three cylinders in a group. The steam engine directly converts the up and down motion of the piston into the rotational motion of the ship's shaft. The new steam engine also contains a small turbine, and the steam from the cylinder can also use its waste heat to push the turbine to improve the efficiency of the entire drive. This turbine is also attached to the ship's propeller shaft.
Boiler classification
Fire tube molding was used in the boilers of early ships and steam locomotives. In a fire tube boiler, the hot smoke from the combustion chamber is discharged from the chimney through the flue. This boiler requires a relatively high chimney.
Water pipe-shaped water is heated by hot air through multiple pipes. These pipes flow into a steam collection chamber at the top of the exchanger. An important advantage of a water tube boiler is that it poses less danger in the event of damage, because the amount of water in the boiler is relatively small, in addition there are not many moving mechanical parts in the boiler that will wear out, and some water tube boilers are exhausting smoke. There is also a heat exchanger on the road to improve the thermal efficiency of the whole boiler.
Classification of steam engines
According to the steam working on one or both sides of the piston, the steam engine can be divided into two types: single-acting and double-acting;
According to the arrangement of cylinders, it can be divided into vertical type and horizontal type; according to whether the steam is expanded in one cylinder or successively expanded in multiple cylinders, it can be divided into single expansion type and multiple expansion type; according to the flow direction of steam in the cylinder , can be divided into reflux and single flow;
It can be divided into condensing type, atmospheric type and back pressure type according to the steam exhaust method and exhaust pressure.
